Printmaking is an art of accumulation. With each pull of the press, layers of memory, gesture, and decision build upon one another. Ink does not merely rest on paperโit seeps into it, leaving behind traces of thought and action. Like sediment over time, every impression holds the record of what has come before.
Beneath the Surface: Poetry of Layers invites us to look beyond the visible, to uncover the meanings embedded within prints. Here, six artists from DEVFTO Printmaking Institute present works shaped by repetition, resistance, and experiment. Each print is more than an image: it is a palimpsest, layered with history, identity, and process.
